Course Overview:
This course is designed for the academic student who is willing to rise to the challenge of in-depth work. This course is designed to parallel the 8th Grade U.S. History curriculum. Honors students will experience an enriched curriculum of greater depth involving high school level reading and writing experiences, as well as note taking. Students will experience higher order thinking activities requiring analysis and synthesis of course content. When possible, original source documents and biographical readings will be used. This course will help prepare students who intend to enroll in honors or AP social studies courses in high school.

- Pearson Bounce App: this app is used to control the interactive features of the textbook. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Just search for Pearson Bounce App. This app works on a smartphone or tablet. See page ii of the student textbook for more information.
Class Expectations and Policies:
- Students must complete all online assignments using their Pearson Login and the Pearson Realize website.
- Students are expected to be prepared for class each day. Bring all materials each day; textbooks, notebooks, folders or binders, pens and pencils, colored pencils, and any assignment or extra course content.
- Students must be on-time for class. Attendance effects learning, not only for the student who is late but all students who are in the process of learning.
- Students must use the restroom during passing time. Class passes will be handed out on a very limited basis.
- No CELL PHONES or ELECTRONIC DEVICES allowed in class unless special permission is given.
- Only water bottles are allowed in class. NO FOOD or other DRINKS.
- Students are responsible for absent work. Check the absent file tub or see the teacher.
- Assignments must be on-time. Penalties are as follows and taken from the grade earned: 1 day late minus 10%, 2 day late minus 20%, 3 days late minus 30%, 4 days late minus 40%, 5 days late minus 50%. After the 5th day the assignment will be graded as a zero. Students won't be able to turn it in for credit.
